Greystones Cargo Systems offers various specialized services to a large network of clients in and around the Port of Durban. These services include warehousing, General cargo handling, Bulk cargo handling, Stevedoring of all cargoes and commodities, Reefer monitoring, conveyor belting operations, bagging operations etc.

Conveyor Belt Operations

Greystones Cargo Systems is well recognized for its conveyor belting operations and includes Bucket Elevators, Sky Conveyors, Ordinary Conveyors and Conveyor Systems which load containers with bulk cargoes.

Greystones Cargo Systems recently broke the un-official South African record for the discharge of non free flowing cargo during the discharge of Soya meal into the Agriport silo's using a unique conveyor belt system.

Bagging Operations

Greystones Cargo Systems have a bagging facility where bulk cargoes are delivered, stored and later bagged to customer requirements.

These bags are then containerised and sent off to meet with customer deadlines.

Break Bulk Cargo

In our break bulk operation we handle all forms of cargo. Some of these include Steel products, Forest products and various sizes of earth moving equipment.

Bulk cargoes handled by Greystones Cargo Systems include various Minerals, Metals, Ferroalloys, Grain Commodities, Protein Oil Cakes and Wood Chips.

These commodities are loaded and/or discharged using various methods and cargo handling equipment.

Greystones Cargo Systems manufactures, owns and maintains most of the cargo handling equipment used in the Port.

The company has its own highly qualified service and maintenance team which are capable of building equipment to service our customers needs.

Container Handling

In the Durban Container Terminal - Greystones Cargo Systems provides a service to the South African Port Operations (SAPO). The group has an excellent relationship with SAPO.

We have regular meetings with SAPO where performance and production issues are discussed and brain storming takes place around sensitive issues.

At the Pier 1 Container Terminal the group has a similar relationship with SAPO. In this terminal Greystones Cargo Systems utilizes the service of its own employees and equipment for the loading and discharging containers as this terminal is a ships gear operation.

Greystones Cargo Systems handles an average of 30 000 TEU's per month through these terminals.

Container Freight Stations

Greystones Cargo Systems operate Container Freight Station Operations in all major Ports whereby bulk or bagged
cargo is loaded into containers.

Reefer Monitoring.

Greystones Cargo Systems offers a service in the monitoring of all reefer types.

This includes ordinary monitoring where temperature set points, actual supply and return temperatures, ventilation and humidity controls are monitored.

Special monitoring, better defined as Cold Treatment, Controlled Atmosphere and Super freezers are also performed. These include all the above plus the monitoring of all the probes, O2 and CO2 levels in %.

All alarms are also recorded and reported to various technicians.

During the 2005 fruit season, +/- 15 500 REEFERS were monitored by the group.
