The company is totally committed to the implementation and delivery of the South African Maritime Industry's Black Empowerment Policy and to the transformation of port operations in South Africa.

The company will achieve these policy goals by :

  • Having a minimum of 25.1% equity being held by PDI and/or Black owned companies within 5 years.
  • Appointing a minimum of 40% Directors and Executive Directors from PDI group within 5 years.
  • Ensuring the Executive Directors will have equal decision making responsibilities, authority and cheque signing powers.
  • Ensuring that skills transfer will take place at all levels including access to SSA's global raining facilities.
  • Ensuring all staff receive education and training to enhance their operational abilities and empower them for future advancement.
  • Maximising the procurement of goods and services from BEE companies at every opportunity.
  • Promoting entrepreneurship through the means of joint ventures/outsourcing and/or procurement of services from locally based Black owned companies.
  • Endeavouring to assist in the upliftment and improvement of social conditions in the communities in which we operate.
